Meet the Author
The Simply Series Written and published by Laurie Hicks, former teacher, private tutor and currently a home educator, the author respectfully presents her work to fellow teachers and parents with the hope that it may lighten their burdens and bring greater success in the art of teaching children the basics of learning.
With two older children Laurie home schooled and graduated and now home schooling their two grammar school students, Laurie's products are put to the test and utilized everyday. Her keen observations of determining comprehension and retention in her children helps make the SLB products the success they are!
The Company
Shoelace Books is a family owned business located in Georgia. Mark and Laurie, together with their four children, have developed this unique curriculum.
Laurie's husband is a Heating & Air Technician and enjoys spending time with his family. Laurie is a homemaker and the primary author of the Shoelace Books. Mark and Laurie are currently home schooling their two younger children. Both Kenan and Zack serve in various capacities in the company from editing, proofing, and packaging. The two older children are grown and working in their field of choice with one serving in the U. S. Navy.
Doctrinal Statement
We believe the Bible alone is God’s infallible and authoritative Word to man. It is the only standard by which faith and practice are to be measured.
We believe God is a triune God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the only Savior of sinners, the only way to the Father. He died as a substitute for sinners and was raised from the dead so that they might be reconciled to God.
We believe that the chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.
